MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – For the eighth straight year, Beard Motorsports will contest the four superspeedway races on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar.

Officials from the Michigan-based team made the announcement Wednesday morning, confirming plans to attempt the season-opening Daytona 500 Feb. 18 at Daytona (Fla.) Int’l Speedway with the familiar No. 62 Chevrolet.

Beard Motorsports will return to the racetrack April 21 for the GEICO 500 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Aug. 24 at Daytona for the Coke Zero Sugar 400, and Oct. 6 at Talladega for the Yellawood 500.

Connecticut’s Anthony Alfredo will drive the No. 62 Chevrolet in both the Daytona 500 and the spring Talladega race. February will mark Alfredo’s second time attempting to make the Great American Race.

“I’m so thankful for this opportunity,” said Alfredo. “Every driver that runs stock cars wants to race in the NASCAR Cup Series and the Daytona 500. I’ve been blessed to race at this level against drivers that are childhood heroes of mine. This opportunity with the Beard family is very exciting.

“They have always fielded great cars in these superspeedway races, so I’m thrilled to get behind the wheel of their No. 62 Chevrolet.”

With 38 career Cup Series starts on his resume, Alfredo’s upcoming Daytona 500 appearance will mark his first time competing at the sport’s highest level since April at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. He owns one top-10 finish in the Cup Series, earned in 2021 while racing full time with Front Row Motorsports.

Alfredo recently confirmed his full-time plans for next year, returning to Our Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series to pilot that team’s No. 5 entry.

The family-owned Beard Motorsports organization debuted with driver Brendan Gaughan in 2017 after being founded by the late Mark Beard Sr. Since Beard’s passing in 2021, his wife Linda and their children, Amie and Mark Jr., have continued to operate the team.

“The 2024 season marks our eighth year competing in the NASCAR Cup Series,” said Amie Beard, executive vice president of Beard Motorsports. “It’s surreal to even be referencing year number eight. This race team is a passion project for all of us. My dad loved the sport and it’s a passion that we now share as a family. It’s what drives this team.

“We are so excited to be back on track for 2024,” Beard added. “Our crew chief Darren Shaw and the majority our crew guys and pit crew are all back for this season. Darren has been busy getting the car ready, and preparations for the Daytona 500 are well underway. Our schedule will go beyond the Daytona 500 and we have some exciting things in the works that we look forward to sharing a little later.

“Overall, though, we are just looking forward to getting back to the track and doing what we do best – competing while having fun.”

Beard Motorsports’ plans for the team’s remaining Cup Series races in 2024 will be announced at a later date.
